Periodontal Care
Our periodontal care program is aimed at the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal disease. Periodontal disease is dental disease involving the gums and supporting tissue around the teeth. Some common signs of periodontal disease are:
- red or swollen gums
- gums that are receding or moving away from your teeth
- bleeding from the gums while brushing or flossing
- persistent halitosis or bad breath
- movement or increased spacing between your teeth
We will develop a program custom tailored for you to maintain the health of your mouth and prevent the progression of your periodontal disease.
Dentures and Removable Partial Dentures
Dentures and removable partial dentures are dental appliances made from acrylic, porcelain, and metal. These dental appliances are used to replace missing teeth and gums and provide support for your jaw, cheeks, and lips. Most importantly, dentures and removable partial dentures can help restore your day-to-day functions such as eating, speaking, and smiling.
Bruxism
Bruxism is the grinding or clenching of teeth unrelated to normal activities like eating or talking. Many patients unconsciously grind or clench their teeth especially while sleeping. Bruxism is typically evident during a thorough exam and is diagnosed clinically by the presence of tooth wear, tooth mobility, increased tooth sensitivity, and tenderness of the muscles of mastication. The treatment of bruxism involves the prevention of further wear and management of the symptoms. A conservative method to help prevent wear and protect your teeth is with an occlusal guard. An occlusal guard or bite splint is an appliance that is designed and custom made for each individual patient. An occlusal guard is custom fit to your teeth and is designed to prevent further damage from tooth to tooth grinding by keeping your teeth apart.
Crowns and Bridges
Crowns and bridges are fixed dental restorations that cover or “cap” a natural tooth. Dental crowns are made from ceramic, a metal alloy, or a combination of both. Crowns can be used to:
- Restore a weakened or fractured tooth
- Replace a large filling that has compromised the natural tooth
- Reinforce a tooth that has had root canal treatment
- Restore a tooth that is malformed or severely discolored
Bridges are fixed restorations that replace one or more missing teeth. The abutments or anchors for the bridge are the natural teeth which are present adjacent to the empty space. The abutments are crowned and an additional crown or pontic is attached between them to restore the empty space.
Cosmetic Dentistry
My practice offers various cosmetic dentistry options. These include porcelain veneers, composite bonding, and teeth whitening. Cosmetic dentistry can be used to hide imperfections of your teeth like chips, stains, and gaps. Using a combination of skill, artistry, and science I can redesign and improve you smile. The ultimate goal is to improve the look of your smile in the most conservative manner.
Implant Dentistry
Dental implants are a remarkable way to restore missing teeth. Dental implants are titanium cylinders that bind with human bone. Dental implants can be used to replace single teeth, multiple missing teeth, and to help stabilize dentures. Implant supported teeth look and function like your natural teeth thereby avoiding a removable partial denture or complete denture.
